Using Heartfelt Creations Butterfly Medley collection.
Design can be adapted to any 6” x 6” paperpad or cardstock collection.

Part 2

Matting the Pages

Supplies:

·      Any 6” x 6” patterned paper pad or cardstock. I have used Heartfelt Creations Butterfly medley collection.
NB: You can use any 12” x 12” papers/cardstock and cut them down to size.
·      Scissors
·      Double sided tape ½” and ¼”
·      Cutting tool/Ruler if you are cutting with scissors.
·      Rounded corner punch
·      Magnets: 10mm x ½ mm
·      Liquid glue. I used Scotch Quick – Dry adhesive.
    1  1/4" circle punch

For the purpose of this tutorial the pages are labelled 1 - 14.
When placing them in the album, you can organize them in your own order to suit your theme.

Matting the Pages:

Pages 1 & 2:  Size: 6 ½” x 8 ¼”
Place the page as shown to begin matting this side.  (Page 2)






·        Cut mat 5” x 6” x 2
·        Cut decorative strip: 5” x 1 ½”
·        Cut mat 2” x 6” x 2
·        3 magnets
Set aside mats.

Placing magnets:
Tip: Adhering a magnet method. Use liquid glue to attach magnet to cardstock then place double sided tape over the top. Peel off when matting.

·      Measure 3 ¼” x 1” on the flap, mark and adhere a magnet.
·      Measure 3 ¼” x 1” in from fold and adhere a magnet.
·      Measure 3 ¼” x 3” in from fold and adhere a magnet



Tip: To adhere mats use double sided tape ¼”

Adhere mats to page and flap on both sides. Use decorative strip along the top of the underside page. (Page 1)




Pages: 3 & 4, 7 & 8, 9 & 10. Size: 6 ½” x 7”


·      Cut mat 6” x 6” x 5

TIP: This is where you can cut 12” x 12” patterned paper or cardstock, or use your 6” x 6” paper pad.






Adhere 5 mats to pages.  Making sure page 9 is left blank.




Tip: Use papers with existing patterned strips for border effect.








·      Cut mat 6” x 4” x 1 (I’ve used HFC photo mat, you can use plain paper or cardstock)
·      Cut decorative strip 6” x 1 ½” x 1



On page 9 adhere decorative strip at the folded end and 6” x 4” strip to outer edge as shown.


Pages:  5 & 6:  Size 6 ½” x 10”

·      2 magnets
·      Cut mat 6” x 6” x 2
·      Cut mat 2 ½” x 6” x 2
Set aside mats.

·      Measure 3 ¼’ x 1” from flap edge and adhere a magnet
·      Measure 3 ¼’ x 2” from flap folded edge and adhere a magnet

Using a rounded corner punch, round corners on flap.


Round corners on one side of flap matting before adhering to flap. Ensure pattern and corner match flap side. (front or back)

Mat pages.







Pages:  11 & 12:  Size 6 ½” x 13 ½”

·      Cut 6” x 6” mat x 2
·      1 magnet
·      1 ¼” circle punch

Adhere to back and front of the page.








·       Cut 6” x 3 ½” x 2

Adhere to flaps back and front



Measure 3 ¼” x 1 ½” on small flap. Adhere magnet to topside (ie page 11)

·       Cut 6” x 2” x 1

Adhere mat to top of flap covering the magnet.





Measure 3 ¼” down outer edge of small flap and mark.


Using 1 ¼” circle punch, punch a half circle creating a tab.




Using double sided tape adhere flap down to page 12, creating a pocket.



Pages: 13 & 14:  Size 6 ½” x  9 ½”

·      Cut 6” x 6” mat x 2
·      Cut 6” x 2” mat x 1
·      1 magnet

Adhere magnet to centre of the page on page 14.

Mat both sides of page with 6” x 6” mats.


Mat flap on page 14 side.

Using double sided tape, create pocket and adhere flap to page 13.



  
Now you have completed matting your pages you are ready for part 3 of the tutorial. This will show you how to embellish the pages with pockets, lot’s of photo mats and using various dies.
