Part 5
Album Cover and attaching the pages.

In this tutorial I will be showing you how to make the album cover and attach your pages. You have the base pages done from tutorial part 4. These are just ideas to inspire you and can be adapted to make your own very unique album.

Supplies:
·      Various papers and cardstock, use leftovers from previous tutorials, especially the base card stock black.
·      Ribbons
·      Double sided tape and red super hold double sided tape
·      Liquid glue
·      Scissors.
·      Chipboard
·      Craft blade or heavy duty guillotine.
·      Kraftex
·      Lace
·      Metal fastener
·      All the album pieces so far from tutorials 1-4.

Album cover:

Cut chipboard 7” x 7” x 2 for front and back
Cut chipboard 4 ½” x 7” for the spine

Cut base cardstock 2”x 7” x 2

Cover with double sided tape

Fix to chipboard as shown allowing space for front and back cover to fold inwards.

Cut kraftex 7” x 9”

Use red double sided tape to adhere. Ensure that album folds easily.

Attaching the pages:

From the inside fold measure and mark ½”. Repeat this 6 times. This is the edge mark where the pages will be attached. This makes then evenly spaced and ro0m for all the embellishments and photo mats.

All the pages should be scored and folded ½” from previous tutorial. Double sided tape should be run along the scored edge.

Album fastener:

I used this fastener by Cherry and it measures 2” at the opening.
There are lots on the market.

Cut kraftex 2” x 6” x 2

Cut lace 6” lengths x 2
Attach lace to kraftex, thread through the clasp and adhere. LEAVE edges open to attach to album cover.

Mark centre of album cover at the edge and glue fastener to either side.

Cut card stock 61/2” x 6 ½” x 2 and using wet glue, glue to front and back outside cover.
NB: Double sided tape does not stick to the kraftex as well.

Cut to length a strip of lace and add to cover.
Cut HFC card stock 5’ x 6” and adhere to the right side of the cover. Slide under the lace.

Cut plain cardstock 6 ½” x 6 ½” x 2 and adhere to inside cover.

Cut HFC patterned cardstock 6” x 6” and adhere to inside cover.

Cut 6 ” x 6 ” HFC patterned cardstock for the back cover.

Punch 2 strips in black with the Martha Stewart butterfly edger punch. Cut to length and adhere to the back and front covers.

Attaching the pages:
Lay the page flat lining up the dots along the top of the inside cover. Peel back the tape and press firmly, keeping the page straight.

The page should easily flip both ways.

Continue attaching the pages this way ensuring they are carefully lined up.

The pages should easily rest on each other when the album is opened.

Here is the album with all the pages attached.

Now you have completed attaching your pages you are ready for part 6 of the tutorial. This will show you how to complete the album.
